To finish the first half Lars Nilsson, from Sweden, sang and played guitar to a song by Swedish songwriter, Mikkel Vielje about the Titanic from a “Second Class Passenger’s” perspective and then a song composed by one of his friends about young dreams “One of the Joneses”.Īs Rick and Ricardo had travelled from Dorset to visit us, they were asked to do a second spot to start the second half and performed a Scottish tune “Prime for Time” and Dougie McLean’s “Farewell to Craggie Dhu” which is about Drummond Castle. Two songs of the sea were the offerings from Des, firstly the well-known sea shanty, “John Kanaka”, a great singalong song, and Les Barker’s very short poem, “Disaster at Sea”, to which Des had written a tune to accompany it.Īlan Matthews treated us to the traditional “Adieu Sweet Lovely Nancy” and Bruce Springsteen’s “One Step Up, Two Steps Back”. They played 3 tunes: from Galicia, “Canker of Krill” followed by “Finore”, a French tune and “Costa del Morte” (The Death coast – Cape Finisterre).ĭora performed Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” followed by “Crystal Chandelier” written by Ted Harris but recorded in 1965 by Charley Rich.
